Itinerary

Greetings from Morocco! Following a brief airport journey, you will have free time to spend exploring this energetic city today.

On our way to Zagora, we take in a breathtaking journey via the High Atlas today. We travel through the lush, green Draa Valley, which is home to magnificent views and palm trees. Then, it's time to depart for the vast desert, where we will spend the night at our Berber Camp after mounting camels for a trek over the Sahara Desert. We had a great night out beneath the Saharan sky, complete with local cuisine and music.

We depart the desert and return to Marrakech, making a lunch stop along the way. After our return to Marrakech, we eat dinner in the fabled Main Square, Djemaa El Fna. When one hears the term Marrakech, visions of an exotic city filled with magic carpets, snake charmers, and spices transported in by camel trains come to mind. Nestled among the rose-colored walls of the medina is a reality not too dissimilar from the set of an exotic movie: a maze of narrow passageways that lead to dimly lighted alleys and bustling souks. Explore the Djemâa-el-Fna, the city's center plaza, which is home to an amazing assembly and marketplace. It is vibrant, smells spicy, and is teeming with traders. The nighttime market, brimming with food vendors, acrobats, dancers, fortune tellers, musicians, and henna artists, is also worth seeing. The Koutoubia mosque, the highest structure in the city, towers over everything, serving as a constant reminder of how vital Islam is to the lives of those who live there.

After breakfast, we head out of Marrakech and take a leisurely drive to the Atlantic Coast's Essaouira, a vibrant fishing town nestled under Portuguese fortifications from the 15th century, where fantastic beaches and waves await. You may spend the day lounging on the beach or exploring the UNESCO-listed medina, which has a variety of souks and workshops for woodcarving. You won't likely get lost because the medina is accessible from every city gate. There are several of cafés with terraces and the beach is just in front of the Medina; both are great places to unwind for a few hours. There are many blue doors and window frames, as well as artist stores. You can purchase a wood carving by Thuya or a carpet, or just relax on the beach with a mint tea while the sun goes down. Before unwinding for the evening, there's the chance to partake in some extra sports including windsurfing, horseback riding, quad biking, and surfing. In the night, we stay in Essaouira.

After breakfast, we depart from Essaouira and return to Marrakech, getting there around midday. When we return to Marrakech, which we usually do in the early afternoon, the tour comes to a close. Because of this, we ask that you avoid scheduling your return flights from Marrakech before the evening of the day you plan to end your stay.
